Product Description

ChokeFree is a revolutionary Step-N-Wrap designed, innovative concept in pet restraints. ChokeFree features a non-choking one-piece shoulder collar that wraps around a pet's shoulders and is secured with a Val-Lock Closure. Pet Wellness and prevention of neck injuries begins with ChokeFree. ChokeFree is an easy to wear, pet-friendly alternative to conventional pet harnesses. The easy-on/easy-off design is for all pets and makes walking a delightful experience for both owners and pets. ChokeFree makes it possible to walk a pet without causing pressure on the pet's neck and airway. ChokeFree combines the one piece simplicity of a conventional collar with the features of a harness. The patented closure utilizes a new technology whereby a D-ring is placed through hook and loop making it possible to secure and restrain a pet without any buckles, clasps, etc. Many pets can have trouble breathing when they pull against a restraint leash while wearing a conventional collar or harness that puts pressure against their airway. Many times the smaller breed dogs experience a condition called collapsed trachea when pressure is placed against their windpipe and they cough and make a honking noise. Pet owners can help with this condition by restraining their pet with a type of harness that does not place pressure on the pet's trachea. The unique design of the ChokeFree Pet Shoulder Collar does not place pressure against the pet's neck, fore chest or airway. ChokeFree is a pro-active solution to pet choking problems. ChokeFree helps to eliminate choking and pet neck related injuries before they can occur. With ChokeFree, there is absolutely no coughing on restraint. The Shoulder Collar has attractive paw ornaments and is available in beautiful vibrant colors to fit pets that measure from 8 inches to 28 inches in chest circumference just behind the pet's front legs. One inch should be added to the chest measurement to determine the correct size.

I love these harnesses. I love that they dont reach the neck so the dogs won't get choked if they pull. I love that they are leather because leather is softer and doesn't dig into the dogs. I followed the guidelines and bought the 14 inch for my 5.5 pound dog. It works great but after years of use it is pretty loose. I then bought the 13 inch (it says to add an inch on the guidelines) and it was a bit tight at first but after some use it now fits perfectly. I also have a red metallic one and I dislike that one. It is very hard compared to the others and even after use it has not softened. The dog doesnt like the hardness either. I plan to donate it. The nonmetallic are soft and perfect. These last a long time. The original one I bought is still fine (only the color is fading) and like I mentioned above its just a bit looser. I use it on our new puppy who is a bit bigger and it works perfectly. I would recommend this harness but DON’T buy the metallic colors unless you want a hard non-flexible strip. Also I have a buddy belt and this works just as well IMO only it’s cheaper.I absolutely LOVE the "Choke Free" original brand!!! I ordered the 10" metallic turquoise with pink flowers for Josie & Shelby to try out. Josie didn't want to take it off so that's a good sign. She must be comfortable in it. These are awesome!!!! They came from the Choke Free store on Amazon.com. My girls' weigh less 2 lbs at 9 weeks & their chest girth is a little over 9" so I chose a 10" to be sure it wasn't to tight. I was a bit worried it'd be too big, but it's perfect with room for a little growth. They're available in sizes as small as 8". I highly recommend this product! Choke Free offers a newer mesh version, but it starts at 11" chest girth & I knew that wouldn't work. Measure your puppies right behind their front legs to get the size you need for these unique harnesses. Even if you have to pay full price, they're worth it!I also tried the Puppia brand in XS, but it was too big. Seems like a nice harness though.Previously, I had tried the Voyager in XS & it was also too big. Selecting the right measurement is imperative & I wasted alot of time & energy to figure that out. Lol. However, I tried the Gauterf XXS and those just aren't sized accurately in my opinion. They fit too high up on the neck & it was a scary ordeal for them & a stressful one for me. They were super cute and might be ok for some dogs, but they didn't work for Shelby Lynn & Josie Kate.CHOKE FREE brand is by far THE BEST we've tried. My vet mentioned that I might want to switch from a collar to a harness because my dog might have a tendency towards getting a collapsed trachea. I originally ordered the 19-inch but my dog could Houdini herself out of it. This one also does not choke her, but it does chafe a bit underneath her legs. We made really simple fleece sleeves so that it doesn't rub her armpits (I guess that's what you would call that area on a dog??) and now it's perfect. It's quite a cute color :) She also does not pull while wearing it, I think because it is more comfortable than her other harnesses. She is a 15-lb petite goldendoodle. We have previously used EasyWalk and Sporn mesh no-pull harnesses, but both were high enough across her chest that she would choke and cough when she pulled hard with them.I would buy again when/if this wears out. She has chewed a little on it and it seems to be fine. This works great for my beagle. Her throat is extremely sensitive and before this harness I couldn't find anything that wouldn't make her gag. It didn't have to be tight, just touch her neck and she'd start gagging. This harness works great for her. She's not a puller so I can't really comment on that but for our regular walks it's great.I was a little afraid it would rub her little armpits because the leg holes really aren't that roomy, but so far so good. I found it to be fairly true to size and am overall very happy with it. I managed to find one of the sizes that was on a great sale, but I don't know if I'd want to spend $40+ as some of them are listed for. I also may consider next time trying the mesh harness so there's a little more flexibility in the leg holes. My doxie wears a medium in the mesh harness. I ordered both a 15 and a 16 in this leather one. The 15 fits and might stretch but the 16 looks far more comfortable. The velco on the leather versions is not.as strong as the velcro on the mesh which is a pro for me. I have RA qne was struggling to get the velcro undone on the mesh, i have an easier time with this one. And it looks just darling on her, I love itI have a 6lb Yorkie and the harness collars I have been using were such an unhappy experience for the dog and me, even the adjustable ones. This is a wonderful collar for me and the dog. I walk my dog twice a day on the capitol grounds, she pulls, runs, jumps and has a great time now...so do I. No choking. Love it. I am buying another one. I read the instructions from a review to measure right behind the front back legs up around chest with 2 fingers being comfortable able to go under the measuring tape.I am measuring one inch smaller this time. The one I received works fine. But just one inch smaller will be perfect.I have a petite-goldendoodle who is 15lbs and this is perfect for her. The 18-inch was just a bit too small. We were worried about trachea collapse and this doesn't choke her AT ALL. All of the other brands I tried did--even Easy Walk since she is small and it hit higher on her chest. This is the only harness I will put on my dog and is much more affordable than a Buddy Belt. The only problem we had was she had some chafing under her forelegs, so I sewed two pieces out of fleece around the leg holes.i have used these harnesses since they came onto the market. they are truly the only quality reliable choke free harness i've ever seen. just believe your measurement and order that size. it WILL be larger than any other collar or harness but the harness will fit. my 7.9 lb dog measures size 14. it fits her perfectly even though it sounds very large.
