It covers just the wrist area.This sleeve is available in five sizes -- extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large. We received an extra-large, although if we had independently been ordering his size would have been large. However, this sleeve runs small -- it is tough to get on and off his wrist. Once on, however, it works well.Instructions indicate to either hand or machine wash. You may tumble dry with no heat. I will hand wash and line dry. This is made of 50% nylon, 35% spandex, and 15% polyester.It's always a good idea to keep sleeves like this around your house in case someone falls and injures themselves. Lucky for my husband he wasn't hurt worse. This sleeve is helping his wrist mend!!
