I have alphas Haltis in the past but needed a smaller size than what I have for my little guy who's been pulling on walks. It definitely makes a difference when used correctly. I like the additional padding for the piece that goes over the nose, however, the chin strap has been redesigned and it slips into his mouth which he hates. The others I have are fixed and this chin strap tightens or loosens depending on if he is pulling. I find I have to keep it more taunt so it stays under his chin better. Using positive re reinforcement to help him get use to it. I do love the safety strap that attaches to his collar.I have a Miniature Pinscher who has had a tough life before I adopted him. This caused him to lunge, pull and escape traditional harnesses and collars. Fearing I he would run away and suffer injuries (or worse) I did not take him out as much as I should. I have tried several combinations of harnesses, collars, escape proof equipment and nothing has worked up until now. I have trained my large breed dogs to walk with a head collar and have always been very successful. I have been using the same Halti for large dogs for 10 years. Finally, I decided to order a small one for my mini pin. At first he wanted nothing to do with it and he would jump, flop around and shake his head to get the head collar off. With lots of positive reinforcement and rewards he learned that the Halti is a good thing and he no longer chokes himself or tries to escape while we are out on walks. I like that the part that goes over the nose is padded for extra comfort. My dog is larger than the average Mini Pin so this item fit him good. It was a little loose, but nothing that would require sewing. If your dog has a tiny head sewing may be your only option. I would highly recommend this product to anyone with a stubborn dog no matter what size, this is definitely worth the money.I really like this Halti. I tried the size 1, but it was too large. This helps tremendously with the pulling issue I have with my 25lb Corgi/Basset mix. She isn't that fond of it, and for the first 10 minutes or so she tries to drag her face on the ground. I just stop calmly and hold it up a little bit until she calms down and then I treat her and we carry on. I have also started to put it on her while she is eating or we do tricks for treats. This helps her associate it as a positive thing. I do loosen it up a little extra while she is eating.I do recommend this product but the sizing is weird. 0 is the smallest size they make and like I said my girl is 25 lbs. I have to tighten it pretty much all the way for it to fit her correctly. She does have a small head. I will attach a photo. This works great! No more pulling! Yay! I have a mini pin and the muzzle of the collar fits great, but the neck part was too long and loose on my little gal. With a quick alteration that took less than 8 minutes we now have a perfect fit. One word of advice . . . you need to get your pet used to the collar. In the beginning, to get my gal used to the collar, I gave her a treat and put the collar on in the house without the leash, and did so for 10 minutes at a time, 3 times per day. When I took it off of her I gave her another scrumptious Scooby Snack. It only took four days for her to hook up in her little brain that the collar was a good thing! Getting her used to walking with the collar on the leash the first few times was a bit confusing for her, but I made sure to give her a treat when I put the collar on, and when I took it off, and she got used to walking with collar and leash within a few days. I totally would recommend this product to my family and friends. My dogs trainer recommended this. Though my pup doesn't enjoy it it has helped with her training. We’ve adopted our 8 pound yorkiepoo a little over a year ago and she had no leash training whatsoever. Anytime we’d try to walk her with a leash attached to her collar, she’d pull so hard that she’d choke herself. We also tried a harness meant to prevent pulling, which only kept her from choking herself, but didn’t help with the pulling. This head collar works perfectly! It definitely took some adjustment for her, as she tried desperately to get this off her snout the first few times, even after being coaxed with treats to put it on. However, once we started walking, she walked on a leash like a different dog. Within minutes she realized that pulling was uncomfortable and started sticking to my side instead.I was expecting to get the one with the little adjustor for the snout. I don't know if I didn't read the product description right or I just got a different product. I acted fast when I saw the sale. It works pretty well but since I don't have the adjustor component, my little dog can easily push the nose piece off of his snout. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it, so I'll just sew it together where it fits him best.I have a tiny chihuahua who has behavioral issues when we come across dogs behind fences while walking. A trainer I am seeing suggested a Gentle Leader. I went to the local pet store and tried one on and walked her around the store for ten minutes or more. It was PERFECT. The price is quite high, so I decided not to purchase it yet. When I got home, I checked reviews for a Gentle Leader at Amazon. It rated 4.2 stars with over 12K reviews. The Halti received 4.3 stars with over 5,000 reviews...and the price was less. So I thought...how can I go wrong with purchasing the Halti. I ordered size 0, which is as small as it goes. Her neck is about 1/2" smaller than the specs, but decided to give it a shot. I thought the extra strap could be beneficial for control. I put it on her immediately upon receipt and took her out for a walk. It fits her fine around the neck, but it does not 'control' her. She is all over the place. Maybe the nose piece is too big...it is nicely cushioned. Whatever it is, I do not have control.I've tried it twice now with the same effect. It does not work for her. So I'll be returning it and purchasing a Gentle Leader instead.
