SHOCK DOCTOR PRIME WRIST COMPRESSION SLEEVEMy husband --- oh Lord -- was working in the yard. I saw him from the kitchen window and noticed how wonky he had the ladder set up. I was on my way to tell him I would hold the ladder or he should move the ladder when! Down he went! Of course, he put out his arm to break the fall...thank God he wasn't badly hurt. So, this wrist sleeve is part of his daily wardrobe. Here's what he likes about this sleeve ---*Detachable strap for optional adjustable compression and support*Contoured compression fits around his wrist for support with comfort*Elastic knit forms to shape of his wrist*Weave pattern material for breathability and moisture wicking*Support for minor to moderate sprains/strains*Soft tissue support - joint alignment - therapeutic warmth - blood flow*Helps prevent and heal arthritis, bursitis, and tendonitis*Sleeve doesn't encompass his entire hand as some sleeves do. It covers just the wrist area. This sleeve is available in five sizes -- extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large. We received an extra-large, although if we had independently been ordering his size would have been large. However, this sleeve runs small -- it is tough to get on and off his wrist. Once on, however, it works well.Instructions indicate to either hand or machine wash. You may tumble dry with no heat. I will hand wash and line dry. This is made of 50% nylon, 35% spandex, and 15% polyester. It's always a good idea to keep sleeves like this around your house in case someone falls and injures themselves. Lucky for my husband he wasn't hurt worse. This sleeve is helping his wrist mend!!I tend to do most of the reviews in our household because I enjoy doing it. But for this one, I turned it over to Wifey, because she’s the one wearing it. Here’s what she says about it:Today I put on the compression knit wrist sleeve from Shock Doctor to give it's compression a little try. I wanted to see how it made my wrist feel and if it made any improvements in my pain and movements. After I slid on the cuff it was looser on one side than the other, but when you tighten it down with the strap it adjusts the tension. The strap does come completely off so you can adjust the position a little bit more. The material that it is made out of an elastic knit that does make it a lot cooler, so you're not really sweating as much, [and yes you will still sweat but not as much] It does look like it does have some latex in it- a natural rubber latex if you have any allergies to that you might you know look into it a little bit more before you use it. After wearing it off and on for a couple of days and doing a comparison feel to one that I already had, the shock doctor seems to be a lot more comfortable, I like that you can adjust the strap, having it come completely off so you're not tethered to that one spot. I will definitely be using the Shock Doctor mostly as needed.I never think of these compression wraps as a long term thing. They wear out and really, this one is pretty tight both initially and ongoing. If it is the best size for your wrist, you will be quite glad for this! If is a bit tight, you will never find it to loosen to the right size. I don't know how they do that but they do. I have to say, it is a bit too thin for my use, as in width of the strap. I have big wrists and I don't think, at this width they are helpful for me. This is not the fault of the manufacturer, but the design needs to be a bit wider to be effective in supporting and stabilizing the wrist in my opinion. All in all, as a short term fix, it is good. While the Shock Doctor PRIME Wrist Compression Sleeve seems well made, I revived a size XL and it was much too large for my woman's 6" circumference wrist. The sleeve measures 8" in diameter and it was difficult to tighten the elastic bands without it sliding and ultimately bunching up. Size small or medium. would have been a better fit. I have had to use wrist braces for tendonitis and even though this sleeve was too large, the design could be improved greatly by using a wider elastic band to offer better support over a larger area. I tried overlapping the band several ways in an attempt to achieve even pressure over a wider area, but there was always a weak spot where I could not double the width of the band.** If you found this review to be helpful at all, please take a moment and click the button below to let Amazon know. Thank you so much ? **I have been testing this compression sleeve and determined that it really is too small for someone with more than a small wrist. This compression sleeve fits on my wifes wrist and she wears a watch that is like 5 or 6 sizes smaller than mine.I think the sizing of these bands is off because XL still barely goes on my wrist (and its very hard to get over my hands) and I don't have big hands or big wrists.I understand that it is supposed to compress to give you support and help healing but it caused more pain then it alleviated. I planned to use it to support my wrists from my RSI on long work days but it just didn't work out for me.I'm giving it 3 stars since IT could help out someone with smaller wrists; but they definitely need to adjust their sizing if XL can't even fit a wrist like mine (which is definitely not XL).If this review helped you at all; please mark it helpful. Thanks!I like that it can be worn on the left or right wrist. I don't like the velcro wrap though. It grabs at my clothing and I don't like that. I have made sure I evened up the sides but some of those hooks thought my clothing was the loops. Not really what I was expecting. Perhaps it’s just me. I don’t feel like this offers much actual wrist support. I thought this was going to be just what I needed. As I got this right after falling in and thinking I broke my wrist. Turned out to be a bad sprain. This wrist support just doesn’t seem to sit high enough on the wrist to actually offer enough support. I think if it had a thumb loop then it would be more effective. The adjustable Velcro strap is a nice addition though. However, I feel like this would be better for a bassist or guitar player to wear to avoid forearm irritation while playing.
