It works, it is kind or weak. This is a copy of the deezee one. Good thing others posted the instructions from theirs because there were none with this kit.Pretty weak ..it still comes down pretty hardWorks as should but in the colder weather it’s takes almost a full minute to drop even when pushing down on the tailgateThis is my second shock strut on different ford trucks. I hate the tailgate drop, and my wife really doesn't;t want to deal with a 50-pound activity. This strut will definitely provide the smooth release of the tailgate safely. It lets you deal with the tailgate if your hands are full. Installation is easy enough, but I always look on youtube before I install anything. One thing about this strut though is that it also slows the closing of the tailgate. No more lifting and banging it shut. You have to be patient with the lift. I would never have a tailgate without a shock strut. They should be factory standard equipment. But since they are not, this is the solution.good quality, very good so far. the only problem there was no instruction manual. But in YouTube are a some good videosIt says tailgate assist but it makes the tailgate heavier to lift and close. It does stop the hard drop but my tailgate is real heavy and this makes it heavier. The cable guide was way too small for my cable on my 2005 dodge 2500 so I sent it back.No instructions were included and it does not work well on a 97 F150, I’m inclined to believe it’s more of a issue of where the predilled hole is in my tailgate, it’s too far forward to really be effective and I wasn’t going to drill additional holes. The strut angle is approximately only 10° from top to bottom, 35-45° would have be more ideal. Tailgate comes down hard & fast and has only a minimal slowing rate at the very end of the travel length. Installation wasn’t difficult however instructions would have been helpful instead of having to rely on YouTube videos for a different brand and vehicle type. There are cheaper exact same versions of this product out there that I should have purchased.No directions
