First time using this coat I am impressed. The fit was better than expected. My dog has a very "perky" stance when he is scanning his surroundings. Neck straight up, head high, front legs fully extended vertically. The coat allowed him to do this without any binding. Heavy Frost, the kind that will test a good windshield scrapper landed last night with a 31 degree temperature. In this type of weather my dog is in and out quickly, which isn't his general nature. This morning with the coat he did his usual 15-20 minutes of sniffing everything to do 3 minutes of business.I'm not sure what the low temperature limit is for this coat but I am guessing maybe 10-15 degrees for a short period of time.I am pleased with this coat but may be hesitant to recommend this to someone with zero degree weather or colder.I have an Aussie/Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix....neck 13" (not pressing fur down), chest 24", and back length from base of neck to base of tail is about 23.5". I wanted the jacket to go all the way to the base of her tail, and part way down her haunches, but if I ordered the size that fits that measurement, it'd be way too big everywhere else. It is written to go mostly by the chest, but Medium would be way too short, so I got the Large, but it ended up being slightly too small and way too short as well. I went up one more size to XL and what a big difference...fit nicely after tightening up the straps, and went all the way to the base of her tail, covered the upper part of her haunches (the Large did not), and neck wasn't too big.I have a few pros and cons for the jacket as a whole that I'll list below:PROS: Nicely made jacket and love the purple color! It's lightweight and the fleece liner is very soft and medium thick. Fleece collar is so soft and warm (and makes it "stylish" and cute). Front of chest and belly are nicely covered too. Reflective stripes work nicely. The zipper on upper back is long enough for a harness leash hook no matter where the hook is (some jackets only have a small hole). I like how the back end of it is shaped down slightly to cover upper haunches (if you get the right size). It kept her warm...it wasn't as cold as it has been, but she recently lost some fur due to allergies and isn't as floofy as she usually is, so I think this jacket will be great for when the temps drop again. I have a thin fleece coat that wraps all the way around her body that I layered underneath, so that helps too.CONS: This jacket is not truly waterproof. I took it for its first test drive in the pouring down rain...we spent about 40 minutes walking, and the thin nylon fabric was drenched, and the back end of the fleece liner was a bit wet. However, it did not soak through the fleece liner around her body, so in that respect, it did keep her body dry, but if we spent more time out there in the rain, it may eventually soak through. Also, the back end crept up a few times and I had to pull it down to her tail again...it'd be nice if there were elastic straps that hook around her back legs (I may sew some on). I'll play with the tightness of the chest straps to see if that'll help. Though it could be due to using a harness and that is pulling it up when she is behind me. None of those things were a deal breaker for me though, but worth mentioning.Overall, it's a great jacket and I'm pleased with the purchase. :)I researched soooo many of these jackets before deciding on this one. I chose this one (even though it didn't have as many reviews) because it looked like it would be easier to put on (slip over his head) and the belts at the sides attach with hidden side release buckles rather than velcro (which becomes weak over time and gets hair caught in it). Our guy is 13.5 years old and we just moved from a sunny all the time climate to a rainy, colder climate earlier this year. He's not used to the cold and rain and is hesitant to go outside sometimes even when he needs to; not anymore! This coat appears to be made well, with good quality materials. The fleece is soft and warm, the zipper at the back has a protective seam so it won't irritate your dog (we haven't used it but it looks like it would work great for harnesses), and the roll down collar can be worn folded, or out to protect part of his his head. Our guy got used to his jacket right away. When it's time to go out, I grab it off the hook and he knows to barrel his head right through to put it on. If it's raining, he comes in wet and although the jacket looks pretty wet (not sure it's completely waterproof?) our guy stays dry. And the reflector strips; I didn't even remember they were there until we took him for a walk at night -they definitely do their job. Lastly, our dog is an English Blockhead Lab (more stocky than regular labs, i think). He weighs about 80 lbs (down from his younger years), measures about 22" around his neck, 35" around his chest, and about 25" along his back from the base of his neck to the base of his tail. The 2XL might have worked okay for him, but I didn't want the back leg straps to be too tight on him; so we got the 3XL and it's working out perfectly. With the back leg straps on the jacket stays in place, covers his booty, and doesn't get in the way of his business. Super happy we got the right one on the first try!Doglay Dog Winter Coat with Thicken Furry Collar, Reflective Warm Pet Jacket Waterproof Windproof Dog Clothes for Cold Weather, Soft Puppy Vest Apparel for Small Medium Large DogsGot a size small for my puppy. 1.8kg 9week old. I think it's just a TAD too large but this guy will grow into it ultra fast.Really nice coat. Warm. It has a too zipper to pull thru your harness rings. Very easy to put on and off .One thing I dislike however is the chest adjustable strap when it's tightened to the smallest setup, the excess strapping dangles down and dog pees on it. I wish it could be held back better. I might end up just cutting it off completely and then if the dog ever needs a bigger size il buy a new one. At this price tag it's totally worth itI think this was surprising good coat considering the price tag. Great bang for buckI love how the jacket goes over her head and you don’t have to struggle with getting her paws in the holes. Not sure if it’s water proof yet. My doggo is a mixed bread with a big chest, I’ve returned many jackets that don’t fit her. She’s 65lbs and I got the 2XL. Goes to her tail and fits great. The fit is great and goes on/off easily. Feels very warm. Nice soft material on the inside. Adjustable closure. Haven't tried it outdoors yet but I'm confident it will keep my girl toasty warm. I'll update my review if my opinion changes after our walk tonight. Before purchasing this jacket, our biggest challenge was finding a dog jacket that was easy to put on and take off to reduce frustration for our dog and for us. This jacket is perfect for that. No need to rely on velcro that doesn't stay togrther any longer. The jacket fits easily over the dogs head and the buckles on each side are easy to do up. The jacket fits our broad chested boy very well and has gotten him through some of coldest days we've had so far during this canadian winter.Coat is VERY light weight and I question the warmth of it. Definitely not water proof as it clearly indicated it was. Will not buy this type of item online anymore.Would not recommend product to you.
