HOT UNDER THE COLLAR is a standalone read with a HEA. It is sexy but not soft porn. The series is a spinoff from the Dogfather series. Since Daniel has found love again he has been busy with his new love and sort of slacked off finding mates for all his adult kids. The matchmakers are now the grandmothers to the two families. They set out to match up their kids, nieces, nephews, etc. This story is another big WIN for Ms. St. Claire. It is a great read with a good story that has love, friendship, a tiny bit of sadness and a lot of happy. It is a book you won't be able to put down and you will be sad when it ends and look forward to the #2 book in this series.Cassie is the only daughter in her family and daddy's girl. When her father passed away she was devastated but she stayed strong for her mother and her brothers. Now that everyone is settled in jobs and partners it is her turn to have the life she wants. She is a hard working, ambitious young woman. She is also in love with the sexy fireman.. Cassie has always looked out for her family but now she wants to move to the big city and start her life.When they met a few years ago they knew the attraction was strong but Cassie has always dreamed of moving to the big city, any big city, and getting out of Bitter Bark. However, there is a big problem. She wants to live in the big city and he wants to stay in Bitter Bark. Long distance doesn't work for either of them. If either one gives up their dream, there will come a time when they will resent the other one.There is even a problem with their dogs. One dog acts like he hates Cassie and the other dog can't stay because he can't work two dogs at one time. This is a great read. I couldn't imagine how the author was going to leave this story with everyone being happy but she does it. You don't have to read the Dogfather series to understand this book but it makes for a better background if you do. This series starts with 3 big families being joined through marriage. Of course dogs play a big part in this story so it is best if you love dogs!! You will also get some lessons in training dogs and clues about their personalities. Of course they all are winners and makes you want to get a dog - even if you have 5 already. I highly recommend this story. I can't wait for the next book.
